Nanook in google – book promotion
Mirosław Salski's latest book “Nanook in google” (Wydawnictwo Naukowe Uniwersytetu Szczecińskiego, 2016) is, as the subtitle states, “an Internet-assisted documentary film guide.” It therefore leads us from the first film recordings made by the Lumière brothers in 1895, through documentary films by Robert Flaherty, Dziga Wiertow, Joris Ivens, Walter Ruttmann, Leni Riefenstahl, Kazimierz Karabasz, Krzysztof Kieślowski, Marcel Łoziński (and many other filmmakers), all the way to documentaries made 120 years later, such as Aneta Kopacz's “Joanna” or Tomasz Śliwiński's “Nasza klątwa” (both nominated for the Academy Award in 2015). As for the Internet assistance, most films have their own QR codes which, once scanned, let us watch these exact films – legally, of course – even on a smartphone.
