Blok tematyczny: Polish Documentary Classics
Another very important feature of dokumentART is the systematic presentation of Polish documentary classics. This part of the programme has included films by such eminent Polish filmmakers as Krzysztof Kieślowski, Jacek Bławut, Paweł Łoziński and Bogdan Dziworski as well as the work of Kazimierz Karabasz, co-founder of the so-called Polish school of the documentary. Bławut, Łoziński and Dziworski have been guests at the festival and the screening of Karabasz’s films was accompanied by a meeting with the author of a book on his work, Mikołaj Jazdon, who is a film scholar and director of the International Film Festival OFF Cinema.

In 1968 at the 10th-Anniversary Stadium, Ryszard Siwiec set himself on fire in protest “against the tyranny of lies that overwhelm the world.” Out of the statements of the ones closest to Siwiec, and out of the reports of onlookers, there emerges a portrait of an honourable man who does not submit to compromise.Source: filmpolski.plAuthors:
